Advantages over POP3

- 동기/비동기 모드 모두 사용 가능

- POP는 한번에 한 클라이언트만 접근할 수 있다.
- Access to MIME message parts and partial fetch
- 첨부파일등을 빼고 부분 다운로드하거나 읽을 수 있다.
- Message state information
- 어느 클라이언트가 읽었는지에 대한 정보, 누군가 붙인 키워드(태그)등을 유지할 수 있다.
- Multiple mailboxes on the server
- 서버에 여러 메일함을 만들고 메일을 분류/이동할 수 있다.
- Server-side searches
- 모두 다운 받은 후 검색할 필요가 없다.
- Built-in extension mechanism
- 확장기능을 만들 수 있다?
